Ukraine beat Scotland 3-1 in the 2022 World Cup play-off semi-finals. A special match, the first official match of the Eastern Division since the invasion of Russia on February 24, 2022.
Things even got off to a good start for the Ukrainian, with Yarmolenko (33′) opening the scoring with a fine hat in the first half. In the second half it was Yaremchuk (49′) – the Benfica striker who started the game – to extend the lead with a fine header.
When everything seemed to be heading in the direction of the Ukrainian party, McGregor took advantage of Bushshant’s defeat and reduced to Scotland to create some uncertainty. However, in the last minute of extra time, it was rookie Dovbyk (90+5′) to end the game.
With this result, Ukraine will advance to the play-off final against Wales scheduled for this Sunday. Whoever wins will join Iran, England and the United States in Group B of the 2022 World Cup.
