The Gurupi Health Department will continue with the vaccination against influenza / influenza and measles until 24 June. In line with the expansion of the Ministry of Health – MS and the State Department of Health – SES.
The initiative to extend the validity period for the National Campaign in the municipality refers to the low vaccination coverage. The low demand for influenza protection is a worrying fact throughout Brazil, and in Gurupi it is no different.
“The extension of the campaign’s validity is another opportunity for citizens to update their vaccination cards, go to the Health Unit and be vaccinated, to avoid the most serious forms of influenza syndromes, such as H3N2,” stressed Sinvaldo Moraes, municipal secretary of Gurupi Health.
It is important to note that this period of the year is prone to flu symptoms similar to those of the new coronavirus, so one of the main purposes of this campaign, in addition to playing its role as an essential service to immunizing the population, is to reduce the burden on healthcare so that they can respond more effectively to patients affected by Covid-19.
It is important to reinforce that even people who took the dose last year need to be vaccinated again this year. The immunizer has been updated for flu strains with the ability to circulate more intensively this year, including H3N2 Darwin, which caused outbreaks between December 2021 and January 2022 in some places.
