Benfica’s members voted on the club’s 2022/23 budget at a large meeting this Wednesday following Luis Felipe Vieira’s statement. At the beginning of the conference, Ricosta talked about the new Eagles coach. “We haven’t been as good at home as we’ve been at international level and after six years we’re back in the ‘quarter’ of the Champions League with our youngsters winning the UEFA Youth League for the first time. We know that It’s not going to be an easy year, it’s a year of less parchment than Benfica requires, I’m not satisfied, I know you won’t. So we’ve started to change the structure of the team football, we choose Having a coach who will definitely change the paradigm of what we want in the future, the goal is to make the team more and more competitive, making sure that the formation always has a special place in the definition of the team,” he said. Dear President of the General Assembly
Your Excellency Chairman of the Supervisory Board
Dear Colleagues from Benfica Sport Lisbon and Other Governing Bodies
Before we move on to the budget introduction, I want to make a very brief introduction.
It is with pride that I present myself before you at my first General Assembly to approve the Budget as president-elect of Sport Lisboa e Benfica.
A budget that expresses balance and a huge willingness to win.
A budget that reflects strong growth in investment in sport and women’s football aims to strengthen the work we’ve done and improved this year, but it’s still nowhere near the expectations of all of us.
The season is not over yet, with seven titles still up for grabs, and with the support of our members and fans, I am confident that we will be able to enhance Lisboa’s reputation and heritage.
Here, I must thank you for your support of the pavilion over the past few months.
Today, we are witnessing a dynamic in the pavilion that we haven’t seen in a while.
Opening the pavilion to members has proven to be a smart move, with great benefits for both clubs and members, which is why it will remain in place for next season.
The more fans in the lobby, the better our team’s chances of winning.
Regardless of championships and victories, we must not deviate from one fundamental truth: Members are the soul and strength of the club.
This budget is also aimed at fulfilling its ambition to bring Clube dos Sócios closer.
A clear example is the plans for the House of Benfica, and I would like to give public recognition for the extraordinary work they have done.
Finally, I can’t stand before you and – although it’s outside the scope of this budget – doesn’t say a word about the heart of the club – football.
It’s been a year that didn’t live up to expectations, and I’m the first to take that responsibility.
We haven’t shown the same greatness at home and internationally, six years later, we’re back in the quarter-finals of the Champions League with our youngsters winning UEFA Youth League for the first time.
We know this will not be an easy year. This year is less than the parchment required by Benfica.
I’m not satisfied, and I know none of you will.
For this reason, we have started to change the structure of football, we have chosen a coach who will change the paradigm we want in the future, with the aim of making the team more and more competitive, considering training, as I That said, always occupies a special place in the definition of a team.
After submitting the subsequent budget, we will clarify all your concerns in a Benfica-like environment and receive the demands, respect and promotion the club deserves.
My greatest joy as chairman of Lisbon and Benfica Sport is that each of us, under any circumstances, is proud of our beloved club.
Long live Benfica!
